Statement of Conscience and Prayer Vigil for a Moral Budget
The Maine Council of Churches hosted a prayer vigil in response to the recent proposed budget cuts to MaineCare and other programs that impact thousands of Mainers. Executive Director Rev. Jill Saxby spoke at the Maine Can Do Better rally at the State House in Augusta on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 and then we invited people of all faiths to join in our prayer vigil for a moral budget which continued Thursday and Friday of that week. We received an outpouring of appreciation for this effort and significant media coverage.
