EarthCare Teams are Sprouting Up in Congregations All Across Maine

Just like green plants at this time of year, EarthCare Teams are sprouting up in congregations all over the state. Our Environmental Justice Program is supporting groups and individuals who are “greening” their sanctuaries and homes. To that end, MCC will host an EarthCare Teams Celebration/Support Day at the Chewonki Environmental Center in Wiscasset on Sept. 13. We will soon have more information about this here on our web site.

Made possible through a generous grant from the Eleanor Humes Haney Fund, congregational teams will share success stories, learn about resources and develop blueprints for future activities with their communities. Contact Andy Burt (882-6848) if you’d like to attend.

Thanks to a grant from an anonymous donor, we will also partner a six-month EarthCare outreach project with Maine Interfaith Power & Light. This will help both organizations to identify, recruit, equip, and support individuals and teams within congregations who are interested in earth stewardship and green power issues.
